The XRS 9940 provides total protection and peace of mind with the Xtreme Range Superheterodyne™ Technology, detecting all 12 radar/laser bands with its super-fast lock-on detection circuitry.
The RMR-C435 a.k.a VIPER II detector transmits a series of pulses at the same wave length used by the police laser guns (Lidar), which are electronically timed at about 100 feet apart. The power output is four to eight times that needed to trigger the detector in the laser gun.
The XTR-690 also offers all of the features you would expect in a high performance detector. It will detect POP mode radar and provides Whistler's Real Voice™ alerts. The XTR-690 provides a blue back-lit text display, identical to the display on other high end XTR series models. A digital compass is also provided.
